If you are not familiar with her, she a Korean solo artist, very popular idol in South Korea. She started with really cute songs, because she debuted quite young so she had this quite concept, now lately she having more mature songs but different because they are not with a sexy concept like most of female solo artist may have. Her concept is young and fresh and mature too, which is more natural on her it suits her better.
The songs is sad but doesnt feel so sad, is not your typical ballad and I would doubt to call it a ballad because doesn't feel like it.It has an upbeat as well and is slow too.
Actually I prefer this song over her previous promotional song, which was good but this one is better. Now this song sounds like an old song, is it a cover? it could be, sound very much like that.
Because is not a rythm you will listen in modern music industry.
Anyhow the song is nice.
The video, is simple too and has a vintage feeling, again feel like a cover. If someone know please tell me. Usually even though I listen to Kpop, I am not really aware of the news, so it is more like I just listen to it.
I really like this side of IU, I mean I never disliked her cute side, but this one feels more real to me, more natural, without much effort and I love that old fashioned environment the video has. And I actually can understand a story line so it is great!
The Album
The first song is the promotional song, what a great way to start an album ( I really love the song)
Second song 꽃 , start with Spanish guitar (beautiful) her voice in a melody full of melancholy. And in this song her voice is beautiful and powerful, she really fits this melody
Then we have 삐에로는 우릴 보고 웃지, we start the song with clapping and a great jazzy melody, is not up beat but is not slow...it has the perfect beat, not too high or too low, just lovely! ah! and the electric, retro voice before finishing the song a great little detail!
사랑이 지나가면 is the fourth song, we start with a sweet piano and string (not sure if violin or cello) then the sweet voice of IU at a soft peace and the beautiful balance goes through the whole song.
Fifth song is 너의 의미 (Feat. 김창완) , starting with a retro melody and her voice in what we can call a happy melody but not so happy, I mean in sweet way, so it is quite soft (?) plus the song has the male voice, who has a really soft voice tone, making it perfect for the song and is in perfect harmony with IU's voice.
As the sixth song 여름밤의 꿈; and the piano start once again sweetly and full of melancholy, like each piano key is remembering a dear memory and the same can be appreciated in IU's voice, her voice is singing to those melodies, like trying to reach at them.
Lastly we have 꿍따리 샤바라 (Feat. 클론); sound of water just a briefly at the beginning, seems like waves in the rain, her sweet voice in a playful tune, then ukelele plays playfully too. The male voice seems more like talk instead of singing but it follows the harmony of the songs, sound of seagles and the songs keeps playing playfully. A really nice songs that wraps up the album.
In conclusion is an album that I enjoyed listening from the beginning to end and even replayed.
Question, because I don't know...Are these songs covers from old school songs? because it sounds like they are..anyhow if they are covers they are beautifully done :)
Now will leave you with the video
